Where did the summer go? We are in full, fall swing here. We will begin harvesting cotton in the next couple weeks. We have ONE more field of butterbeans we HOPE to harvest in October. Thankfully, we were blessed with a good harvest on our last field and I have only a few orders hanging out there. WHICH MEANS, if you need more or didn’t order before, you MAY get lucky! Warm fall and no frost leaves us cautiously optimistic.
STRAWBERRIES
We finished planting them earlier this week. They are coming along nicely. I posted a video on our facebook, Oliver Farms Produce – Smithfield, VA, of planting.!
SAUSAGE
I am building our spreadsheet for our fresh, bulk pork sausage. Because we are in harvest mode, I don’t have a specific date of making. To the new people, we have a spreadsheet; when rains come, or harvest is done we will make sausage. I am certain we will make many times before Christmas and a few times before Thanksgiving. Gallon bag/5 pounds is $20; quart bag/1 pound is $5.
Send email to ORDERS@OLIVERPRODUCE.COM with NAME, BEST PHONE NUMBER and QUANTITY. We will call when it is ready for pickup.
FALL CROPS
Kale, collards, cabbage and broccoli are growing nicely. We usually cut a couple weeks before Thanksgiving and into the beginning of next year.
We are taking pre-orders for them at ORDERS@OLIVERPRODUCE.COM. Please include your name, best phone number, product and approximate quantity or interested. We can discuss quantity later if you don’t know. We cut the day you are planning to pickup so if you want yours date specific, please state that in the email and we will do our best to fill then.
Please please do some pepper sausage! Do you have any more butter beans?
Our sausage is made in bulk, like hamburger, so you can add to it when you get it home.
As for butterbeans, we are watching the field. They are setting pods and if Mother Nature continues with her warm weather, and no heavy frost, we hope to pick. If you haven’t pre-ordered, please send an email to orders@oliverproduce.com with name, best phone number to call, and quantity. $25 for gallon/5lbs.
I don’t get these comments immediately so email, text or our facebook are best ways to ready us for quicker response.
Thanks!
